  Juniper Publishers -  Journal of Oceanography Abstract The study examines the ecological and economic implications of dredging activities on fishing sites in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. Data from secondary sources were empirically analysed and results show that dredging operations have significant effect on fishing sites. These are revealed by the magnitude of ecological and economic implications to the region, which is reflected by the level of economic value of damage caused by dredging in the area, the number of fishing sites and farm lands affected by the dredging operations. The study concludes that even though dredging is imperative for the economic survival of the area, there is need for routine studies to be conducted prior to the operations so as to ensure that dredging activities are executed in the most environmentally friendly manner in accordance to international best practices in order to mitigate ecological imbalance in the basin.   Juniper Publishers -  Journal of Oceanography Abstract In this paper, the status of stingrays (family Dasyatidae) in Indonesian waters are summarized. There are 40 valid species of stingrays recorded here. Based on distribution of stingrays within seven faunal region of Indonesia, Kalimantan of Indonesian Borneo has 29 species, the largest diversity among other islands; following Sumatra (27 sepecies), Java (25 species), Sulawesi (14 species), Lesser Sundas (16), Mollucas (9 species) and Papua (17 species). According to the recent of Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN 2017), there are 18 species are listed as threatened species (under Endangered and Vulnerable status), 2 as Near Threatened (NT), 3 as Data Deficient (DD), 5 s as Least Concern (LC) and 12 species are Not Evaluated (NE).   Juniper Publishers -  Journal of Oceanography Abstract In this study,  Origanum vulgare  extract was used to evaluate its effects on immune responses and hematological parameters of rainbow trout  (Oncorhynchus mykiss).  Six hundred (600) averages mean weight 13±0.05g rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss)  were randomly allocated into two groups including placebo-treated group (control), and  Origanum vulgare  extract-treated group, each of three replicates. The fishes were hand-fed once a day with diet medicated placebo or  Origanum vulgare  extract (OE) at a rate of 1% of feed weight in the first feeding for 8 weeks. At the end of every two weeks 24hrs after feeding, fish were bled from caudal vein and blood samples were analyzed for some of hematological and immunological parameters.
